Kativasti (or Kati basti) is an Ayurvedic procedure of retaining warm medicated oil over the lower back bordered with a herbal paste. The therapy can last for 45 to 60 minutes. This may general cure for almost all types of spinal problems and back pains.
A dam of herbal dough is 'built' on afflicted area, is filled with oil and then left to rest - relieving localised pain, tension and swelling. Leaves the region in question feeling extremely nourished. Kativasthi may relieves chronic and acute backaches, muscle spasms, prolapsed disc, lumbar spondylosis, osteoporosis and sciatica. The affected area may be gently massaged with same oil. The patient is then advised to take rest for a short while.
